A healthy diet is not built around one special food. Different foods provide different nutrients. Vegetables, fruit, beans, and whole grains can all be part of the picture. The World Health Organization describes variety as one important part of healthy eating. Balance and the amount people eat matter too.

Imagine choosing lunch from two simple menus. One offers the same main dish every day. The other lets you change the vegetables and choose beans on some days. The second menu gives more room for variety. It does not mean that every possible choice on that menu is automatically better.

Food choices also depend on what is available, what a person can afford, and their individual needs. A useful way to think about meals is to look across several days. One package with a healthy-looking word on the front cannot describe the whole diet. The pattern matters more than a single fashionable ingredient.
