A small team began using an automated writing tool to draft customer replies. The drafts were produced quickly, but speed was not the team’s only concern. An inaccurate answer could confuse a customer or promise something the company could not deliver.
The manager introduced a review step. Employees checked the facts, adjusted the tone, and approved each reply before sending it. At first, some people felt that reviewing drafts reduced the benefit of automation. Later, they found that editing a reasonable draft was often easier than starting from a blank page.
The process still required judgment. If a question involved an unusual request, employees sometimes wrote the reply themselves. The team did not treat the tool as an independent authority. It used automation for a limited task while keeping responsibility with the people who understood the customer and the business.
