Trying Before Buying

Jade wanted an expensive camera after seeing beautiful travel photos. She imagined using it every weekend. A friend offered to lend her a similar camera for three days before she made a decision. Jade accepted and planned a short walk around her neighborhood.

She enjoyed taking pictures, but carrying the camera all afternoon was less comfortable than she expected. She also needed time to move the photos to her computer. On the second day, she left the camera at home for a quick trip to the market and used her phone instead.

Jade decided to wait rather than buy immediately. She might borrow the camera again for a longer trip. The trial did not tell her whether the camera was good for everyone. It showed her what owning one could involve and helped her separate an attractive idea from her everyday habits.
